UQAT, my World !

The Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) is a young francophone university with an enrolment of approximately 5,000 part-time and full-time students. A member of the wider Université du Québec network, it has demonstrated an incomparable dynamism in the fields of teaching and research since 1970. UQAT provides university training for the entire Abitibi-Témiscamingue region and beyond.

UQAT offers more than 120 undergraduate and graduate programs, in various fields of study. An avant-garde institution, the university offers programs in art therapy, 3D creation, digital creation and others that are unique in Québec.

The institution’s small size enables students to take advantage of personalized orientation, support and supervision, over the course of their academic career. The individualized approach, and the availability and competence of the professors are all characteristics that make UQAT a special place ! It also distinguishes itself by its use of information and communication technologies for teaching purposes. The common teaching language is French.

UQAT is one of the university-level institutions in Québec demonstrating high performance in research. Research activities developed here are showing noteworthy results in several areas of scientific activity. These research activities are particularly well-suited to the social and economic characteristics of the region. The university possesses modern laboratories and equipment that are on the leading edge of technology. Several areas show promise : transformation of wood, restoration of abandoned mining sites, sylviculture and ligniculture, underground communications, thermoplastics, community development, hydrogeology, agroalimentary resources, mining entrepreneurship and Aboriginal forestry.

Every year, UQAT welcomes international students from all over the world : Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North America, Oceania. When they arrive, these individuals are welcomed and oriented, in order to be able to quickly adapt to their new surroundings.
